Update: Will Pruitt and Thunder of the Gods

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Looks like there is some more info floating around the ‘net. The story of the Thunder of the Gods fiasco is ripe for hyperbole so keep that shaker of salt handy. Regardless, TwoGroove is keeping tabs on the story. Here’s the latest.

There is a little confusion about the spelling of Will’s last name. It could be Pruett, it could be Pruitt. His contact information was posted in a few places; we won’t post it here.  A couple posts worth reading below:

One band’s story.

Another report from a Metal blog.

Photographical Madness: Thunder of the Gods

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Despite that fact that the festival itself was a horrible failure due to the actions of the promoter, the bands that did play were incredible. Anne Marie Carson was there and shared her amazing pictures. These are some great shots, be sure to check them all out. Mouse over the pictures to see who’s who. And we’re still looking for you, Will.

How Not to Run a Music Festival: Thunder of the Gods

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Thunder of the GodsYou may have heard by now that the Thunder of the Gods festival that boasted over 100 bands from all over the world and musical spectrum ended up being a total bust. In fact, there are reports that the promoter, one Will Pruett from Dayton, committed acts tantamount to fraud.

In summary, the turnout to the Dripping Springs festival was poor at best. Will, fearing a large monetary loss, canceled the festival with no notice, leaving dozens of bands stranded. Some of these guys flew internationally, were promised rides from the airport, and ended up being stuck there. Ticket holders (some who paid up to $95) were not given any information about a refund, the Thunder of the Gods MySpace page (check out the comments in the cached MySpace page link!) was taken down, and Will left without paying anyone. He also stole band merchandise, apparently in a feeble attempt to cover some of his losses.

Needless to say (but I’m going to anyway), there are quite a people looking for Mr. Pruett. At least the bands who performed were received well. I’ll have some pictures for you from Anne Marie Carson very soon.
