Roaries voting extended until tomorrow

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Voting in The Roaries, Austin’s OTHER Music Awards, has been extended until 11:59pm Tuesday night. We have received almost 1000 ballots so far and more are coming in every day. Make sure you get your votes in today or tomorrow; the top three nominees in most categories are within 1-2% of each other. We would hate for a nominee to lose by one vote, so we decided to keep the voting going for a couple days more.

If you haven’t yet voted, then what are you waiting for? It’s quick and easy, just clicky the link!

Then be sure to stop by The Parish on Thursday night for the official Roaries Award Show. It’s right after work, from 5 – 9 pm, and we’ll have some free libations for you to enjoy courtesy of Treaty Oak Rum (and maybe some surprise drinks too!). Sharkweek and Prepmode will be keeping the tunes going, pausing only for us to hand out awards and premiere some sweet videos from the nominees. Chris over at Republic of Austin has been been busting his butt scheduling, shooting, and editing the videos.

Then stick around! Everyone who attends the Roaries Award Show gets FREE ENTRY into A Night of Daft Punk & The Clash with DJ Thibault.

Voting for The Roaries now open

Monday, February 8th, 2010

The nominations have been collected and announced, and now it’s time to open up the voting for The Roaries. For those of you not aware of The Roaries, here’s a quick overview: Austin without music would be like peanut butter without jelly, beans without rice, or Willie without the braids.  But we have to support the scene to keep it alive. To showcase some of the best musicians in the city that may not be getting recognition, Republic of Austin decided to create the Roaries, a new kind of award celebrating the Austin musicians that YOU like. TwoGroove is happy to co-sponsor The Roaries with Republic of Austin, but would be even happier if you’d take a minute to cast your ballot.

The categories are: Best Female, Best Male, Best Group, Best Event, Best DJ, Best Single, and Best Album. If you need a quick refresher of the nominees, check out the Nominees page.

If you’re ready to cast your ballot and let your voice be heard, then waste no time heading to the Official Roaries Ballot. Choose wisely, you only get one ballot! Voting closes Feb 21.

After you vote, be sure to stay tuned. Rumor has it that an awards event will be taking place at The Parish on Feb 25th, from 5-9pm. It’s a very specific rumor.
