Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
What is TwoGroove?
TwoGroove is a site dedicated to promoting new music from unsigned artists and exposing music fans to songs they may not have heard before. There are plenty of sites like this out there, but we try to be a little different. We use data gathered from our User base to provide Artists with a representation of how their songs are doing. We constantly update our music blog, Musical Musings, with information, interviews, reviews of independent artists. Bottom line: We love new music and want to get it out there and in the ears of listeners.
How does TwoGroove represent artists?
Artists sign up for an account and post their music. Then they get their fans to come to the site and rate the music. Fans of new music can sign up and start rating music to voice their opinions. TwoGroove promotes its artists through the blog, social networking, and in-person (if you happen to be in Austin, TX).
Artist/Music Questions
Why should I upload my music here?
If you’re serious about your music, you’ll want as much exposure as possible. There are other sites that you can submit or upload your music to (MySpace, PureVolume, etc.) and we encourage you to get your music out there! TwoGroove doesn’t require constant babysitting; just sign up, upload your music, and you are done. Track your progress in the charts; from time to time we will announce chart leaders and promote them.
Even if you are not currently looking to make a career out of your music, we encourage you to upload your music. It’s free, doesn’t take long, and will get your music heard all over the world.
What should I upload?
Upload your best original music, the music you would put on a demo for a record label. Don’t include cover songs because we don’t want to receive cease and desist letters from angry lawyers. Remember, this is the music that the world will judge you by so put your best song forward!
I’m having trouble uploading my music.
Right now, we can only accept files in MP3 format up to 6MB in size. As the site grows we will be able to allow more file types and bigger uploads. Contact tyler@twogroove.com with any question or problems.
User Questions
Why should I sign up as a User?
Signing up for a User account is free and allows you to rate the music that Artists upload to the site. Those ratings drive the charts and determine the success of an Artist on the site. You’ll get access to new music from unsigned bands and be able to create your own playlist. Hey, it’s free and we won’t send you spam, why not sign up? Plus, non-User visitors to the site have very limited options on music playback.
Why is there no User Plus account?
We couldn’t come up with enough worthwhile options right now to justify having you pay us for them. In the future, we look to adding this as an option. In fact, we are looking for feedback as to what options and features you would like to see. Email tyler@twogroove.com with suggestions.

Want To Be A TwoGroove Featured Artist?
TwoGroove Featured Artists are prominently displayed on Musical Musings, our blog, for a month. We conduct an interview, post pictures, music, and video and submit the feature to various press outlets. We’ll give you a permanent link to the post that you can share with your fans and include in your press kit.
Becoming a Featured Artist is free and easy. First, sign up for an Artist Basic or Artist Plus account and upload at least one song. Ask your fans to become members and rate your music. Send an email to tyler@twogroove.com with the subject Featured Artist and request consideration for a feature.
We consider Artist Plus members and Artists with a large amount of views and ratings first. However, any Artist can be featured.
Want Your Band Interviewed?
“Past, Present, Future” is a short, structured interview format that we use to highlight new bands from around the world. It’s a quick, easy way to gain some press. We conduct an interview via email and then post the response along with pictures and other media if we have it. The post is on the front page of the blog for about a week and we provide a permanent link you can share.
Submissions for Past, Present, Future are handled through SonicBids for now and you don’t have to be a TwoGroove Artist to submit your EPK. Click the link below.

Work In The Music Industry?
We’re currently working on a featurette called “Behind the Scene”. If you are in the music industry and would like to be considered for this feature please email tyler@twogroove.com with the subject Behind the Scene. Be sure to include links to or descriptions of your work.
“Behind the Scene” is a look at the people that make the music scenes of the world tick. Music promotion, management, booking, photography, etc are all welcome.
If you’d like to exchange links or do cross-promotion, be sure to mention that in your email. We’re always happy to collaborate with our colleagues!
