I’m feeling lazy (hence the copy/paste press release) but wanted to pass this along. Sounds like a cool event.
San Antonio, Texas – Lone Star Beer is returning to its roots at the historic Lone Star Brewery, and its fans are invited to join the fun by celebrating their independent spirit and the Texas musicians they love.
On Saturday, October 24 the “National Beer of Texas” will host the first Indie Bash at the Brewery on the grounds of the former Lone Star Brewery. Music enthusiasts can enter a sweepstakes online at www.LoneStarBeer.com or by mail to register for the chance to see some of the best talent from across the state, such as Austin’s Ben Kweller, San Antonio’s Charlie Robison, and Dallas’ Jonathan Tyler, as well as win other prizes.
“We’re excited to return to the place where it all began for the National Beer of Texas,” said Brad Hittle, Chief Marketing Officer, Pabst Brewing Company. “We hope our fans will not only enjoy listening to some great musical acts but that they’ll also take a few moments to see how we’ve worked to preserve this historic landmark.”

About the Indie Bash
The Indie Bash at the Brewery will feature 10 acts playing on two stages and begins at 1 p.m. In addition to Kweller, Robison and Tyler, Austin’s Micky and the Motorcars and Dale Watson, Houston’s Spain Colored Orange, San Antonio’s Buttercup and Luke Olson, and Electric Touch, a band comprised of members from Houston, Corpus Christi and England but formed in Austin, as well as a special guest who will be announced later, will all perform.
“I’m honored to be among the acts performing at the Lone Star Indie Bash at the Brewery,” said Robison. “The Lone Star Brewery is easily one of the most unique venues I’ve ever had the opportunity to play at because of its historical significance to the state of Texas, and being from San Antonio makes this concert even more special to me personally.”
The event will feature various food stands, and concert goers will be able to enjoy Lone Star Beer. Proceeds from product sales at the concert will go to Texas Music Project (www.texasmusicproject.org), a non-profit which works in conjunction with the Texas music industry, State of Texas, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Commission on the Arts, and the Texas Coalition for Quality Arts Education. All of these organizations help strengthen and restore music education to Texas schools.
About the Lone Star Brewery
The Lone Star Brewery dates back to 1884 as the first modern brewery in the state of Texas. Following prohibition, it reopened in a new location and was once considered the “World’s Most Beautiful Brewery.” In 1996 the brewery was bought and shutdown, but it is now being restored by developers as a modern living space which will consist of residential, commercial, retail, hotel and office components.
Lone Star Beer is proud to participate in the restoration of an official San Antonio historical landmark. The iconic brewery structures restored include the famous smokestack, intricate interior murals depicting important Texas events and the historic Lone Star Beer billboard.
