Kick off your running shoes and slip on your country boots for the Girls on the Run of Austin Runnin’ Down a Dream charity event held at the Gibson Guitar Showroom. This event will be held Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009 from 5:30pm – 8:00pm. We will have an open bar, food, door prizes, silent auction, and live music from Reckless Kelly. All proceeds benefit GOTR.

About Girls on the Run
GOTR of Austin is an affiliate of Girls on the Run International, which has a network of 160 locations across the United States and Canada. The Austin chapter was founded in 2008 and to-date has seven participating schools and recreation centers in Austin and surrounding areas.

GOTR is an after-school program that uses the power of running to help prepare pre-teen girls for a lifetime of self-respect, positive choices and healthy living. Over 12 weeks, girls are guided by trained volunteer coaches, and learn about the power of positive self-image. At the end of the semester, in celebration of their achievement, girls along with their families, coaches and volunteers participate in a local 5K race.
