1. Past: What is your musical background? What has led you to this point?
Sam and I (Zeb) are from Indiana, Michael is from Oklahoma and Christian is the token Canadian in the band, hailing from Edmonton AB. Although we come from various locales I think our musical backgrounds are fairly similar as we each started playing in rock bands of some kind or another when we were in high-school and college. Fate had us all end up in New York City where we met as employees of Philip Glass’ recording studio in downtown Manhattan and the band grew from there. Musically our tastes run the gamut from Neil Young and Wilco to the Pixies, Daniel Johnston and Smog (with a whole host of outliers thrown in for good measure.)
2. Present: Where are you at now in your career? What are you currently working on?
We just got back from Farm Fresh Studios in Bloomington, Indiana where we finished tracking for our second album which should be out this fall – Jake Belser did the engineering and we’re all excited with the sounds he achieved. It’s a beautiful old church that he’s turned into a world-class studio and the main room sounds amazing.
In addition, we’ve been touring the East and Midwest with some festival dates this summer in support of our first release, Stalk That Myth which was released on Space Photo Records (we just got back from the NXNE festival in Toronto which was a lot of fun), and we’re in the process of expanding our touring in support of the next record and our motivation is to keep growing musically as a band.
3. Future: What’s coming up for you? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
We have a Split EP with our friend Lesser Lights from San Francisco coming out this summer, followed by our second full length record due out this fall. Five years from now I think we all hope to be still making records and touring. Obviously, we hope that more and more people are exposed to our music along the way.
