1. Past: What is your musical background? What has led you to this point?
I studied classical piano when I was at school and became interested in composing music in my final year of high school. I’ve taken various courses in electronic music, live recording and production and also completed a diploma in film music composition.
The inspiration for my first song came from the Deep Forest song ‘Sweet Lullaby’ – I really liked how they blended native chants, pan flute, atmospheric synthesizers and modern beats to create a song that was so different to anything on the Top 40 charts. My song ‘Incan Melody’ won first prize in my school’s original song composition and since then, I’ve enjoyed blending different genres and sounds from different cultures in my compositions.
2. Present: Where are you at now in your career? What are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on my second album and have completed 4 songs for it so far. I was very inspired after a trip to Ireland last year (I bought several Irish instruments during and after my visit) so this album will have of lot of Celtic influences. There will also be more vocals than my last album.
3. Future: What’s coming up for you? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I just found out that one of the songs ‘In The Light of Day’ on my last album was selected for a movie soundtrack, so I hope to be doing more work in the film music area. Hopefully my next album should be released in 5 years and I look forward to sharing the new music with other people.
4. Where can people find more of your music?
My first album ‘Visions and Dreams’ is available at iTunes and Amazon as well as a lot of other digital and physical stores. You can see a full list of stores at my website.
