1.Past: What is your musical background? What has led you to this point?
The most influential artists recently have been Steve Reich, Radiohead, and Sufan Stevens. Early on my influences were Jim Brickman, soft rock, and whatever piano pieces I was learning at the time. Other big influences have been The Beatles, Ben Folds Five, Jamiroquai, Disco music, Chopin, Scriabin, Arvo Part, Joshua Redman, Weezer, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull and 90’s alternative rock.
2.Present: Where are you at now in your career? What are you currently working on?
We are currently relocating to New York City! Cleveland has been great but we are getting stagnant out here. It’s time for a change of pace and scenery. I’m working on writing and finishing more songs as well as practicing and continuing to improve as a performer and musician.
3.Future: What’s coming up for you? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully still in New York! In five years I see us preparing to record our third album with label support. I also see us having more music gigs outside of our band. Individually we are all very talented at our instruments and enjoy playing music out side of Return of Simple, such as piano bar gigs, musicals, or jazz gigs.
4.Where can people find more of your music?
YouTube has some fun videos. MySpace has some rare recordings not available for purchase. And you can always purchase our released material, via CDBaby, Amazon, or iTunes.
5.Anything you’d like to plug?
Check out music by Expecting Rain. Their songs are beautiful and simple. It’s also hard to find because they put all their time making great music and little time in promoting it.
