Another genre TwoGroove doesn’t delve into frequently is Americana and it’s not because we aren’t fans. Let us try to prove this to you with an interview with Austin’s own Movin’ Target. These guys feature multiple instruments, multiple singers, and in 2004 Movin’ Target won Best Americana Band and Best Songwriting at the Texas Music and Entertainment Awards in Arlington. Check ‘em out.

1. Past: What is your musical background? What has led you to this point?
Jim Wyly has been a Singer Songwriter for 30 years, taking time out to make a living in between. Formed band initially to showcase songs. We discovered a special ability to harmonize together, Jim, Mike and Mark, both writing and singing and decided to pursue the band thing full force.
2. Present: Where are you at now in your career? What are you currently working on?
We have just released a CD called UnPegged. The new quest is getting airplay and setting up retailers to sell the CD. This has not been an easy task. The avenue’s are vast and it can be confusing to know where you should focus your energy. Steady acceleration, that’s the thing…
3. Future: What’s coming up for you? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Although we want to succeed in the airplay and CD sales arena, I’m trying to be realistic about it. For an independent artist a CD is more or less an ad for your band. We hope to become a regional success on the live music front, so we can do only music. Also not an easy task, considering the major odds working against you, whether your material is good or not. So, onward thru the fog..
4. Where can people find more of your music?
You can find our music for sale at CDBaby and many of the major online retailers. We are also available at Waterloo, Cheapo and Antone’s in Austin. Also you can hear our CD tracks at several online radio stations.. My favorite is Jango as an online output, you can hear us there. Very artist friendly if your material can stand on it’s own.
5. Anything you’d like to plug?
You can also go to our web site at www.movintarget.org and find the music there. If you like it, check it out on CD Baby, buy it and give us a fantastic review…
